Dr. Melanie Scarfone is a highly skilled dentist who earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Connecticut. She then pursued her passion for dentistry at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2015.

After graduation, Dr. Scarfone moved to South Florida and has been practicing at Sage Dental ever since. She takes great pride in understanding each patient’s unique needs and works tirelessly to help them achieve their oral health goals in a comfortable environment. Her special interest in cosmetic dentistry complements her proficiency in all aspects of general dentistry.

Dr. Scarfone enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons when she’s not in the office. Dr. David Rappaport is a seasoned dental professional with a wealth of experience and a commitment to excellence. He earned his dental degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University College of Dental Medicine, embarking on a path that has touched the lives of countless patients. Before his dental education, Dr. Rappaport pursued his academic endeavors at the American University in Washington, D.C., laying the foundation for his future in dentistry.

With over 25 years of dedicated practice, Dr. Rappaport’s dental journey commenced in Oceanside, New York. His commitment to the field is paralleled by his wife, Ilene, a distinguished physician specializing in Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology in Florida. Together, they are proud parents of twin boys who recently graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

In his pursuit of excellence, Dr. Rappaport remains devoted to staying at the forefront of dental advancements. He achieves this by actively participating in numerous continuing education courses, ensuring that his patients receive the most comprehensive and up-to-date dental care available. His reputation is built on a foundation of compassion, perfectionism, and highly skilled hands, which endeared him to his patients over the years.

As a respected member of both the American Dental Association and the Florida Dental Association, Dr. Rappaport upholds the highest standards in dental practice. Since relocating to Florida eight years ago, he has been an integral part of the Sage Dental team, providing exceptional care to the community.

Beyond his professional life, Dr. Rappaport enjoys spending quality time with his family, playing golf, and riding his bicycle. This well-rounded approach to life reflects his commitment to balance and overall well-being.

Dr. Alex Margolis graduated from the prestigious University of Florida and further pursued his studies at the esteemed University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. His journey continued with medical school at New York University, and he excelled during his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency at New York University and Bellevue Hospital Center.

Dr. Margolis demonstrated his commitment to serving the less fortunate and our honored veterans at the Manhattan VA hospital throughout his residency. As a proud member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Dental Association, he remains dedicated to staying at the forefront of his field.

Dr. Margolis takes pride in maintaining multiple certifications, including Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Trauma Life Support. He is particularly passionate about various aspects of oral surgery, such as dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, benign pathology removal, facial trauma care, and providing general anesthesia to ensure his patients’ utmost comfort.

What sets Dr. Margolis apart is his exceptional medical expertise and his empathetic and caring nature. He genuinely strives to alleviate his patients’ pain and anxiety. Even under the most challenging circumstances, he remains composed, which greatly reassures and comforts his patients.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Margolis enjoys spending quality time with his beloved family. His wife, Cheri, and their two young children, Aviva and Aidan, and their furry companion Niko, bring immense joy to his life. While his love for sports is evident, he also delights in culinary adventures and exploring new places, as evidenced by his impressive 30 cruises.

Dr. Carter is a cum laude graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in nutritional sciences. At UF, he excelled as a student leader. His superior campus and community involvement allowed him to receive the highest student recognition, induction into the UF Student Hall of Fame. He went on to earn his dental degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, on a U.S. Air Force scholarship. He continued to shine as a student leader, serving as the national treasurer for the Student National Dental Association. He also earned multiple awards, including Dean’s Community Service Award and the Delta Dental Student Leader Award.

After dental school, Dr. Carter was commissioned as a dental corps officer in the U.S. Air Force and attended an advanced education in general dentistry residency at Keesler Air Force Base.

After five years of honorable service, Dr. Carter decided to leave active duty to pursue his passion for endodontics. He received his endodontic training at the Department of Veteran Affairs program in Manhattan, where he operated as chief resident of the entire dental service. He was also adjunct faculty for NYU’s dental school, teaching dental students the art of root canals.

After residency, Dr. Carter worked at a thriving endodontic practice in Long Island, NY. During this time, Dr. Carter continued to serve as a major in the New York Air National Guard, where he acted as chief of dental services at the 106th Rescue Wing in Westhampton Beach, NY. After another five years of service in the Air National Guard, which included a six-month deployment to Kuwait, Dr. Carter decided to move back to his childhood home of South Florida.

Dr. Carter is board certified endodontist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. He is skilled in a full range of endodontic procedures, and he strives to make every patient feel at ease about root canal treatment. When he is not practicing dentistry, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and eating!

Dr. Vanessa Mancuso, a New York native, earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the esteemed New York University College of Dentistry in 2020. She further advanced her expertise by completing a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) and Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in Periodontics at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2023. As a dedicated periodontist, she serves both the local community and patients from around the globe, employing an empathetic and individualized approach to patient care.

Her primary focus is on enhancing oral health and creating transformative smiles. Dr. Mancuso remains at the forefront of her field by staying informed on the latest research and advancements in periodontal biology, which she incorporates into her comprehensive treatment strategies. This expertise enables her to accurately diagnose conditions, formulate effective treatment plans, and promote overall oral wellness. She places a high value on open communication, actively engaging with patients to address their concerns, aspirations, and preferences, thereby helping them achieve their desired oral health outcomes.

Dr. Mancuso is a proud member of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), Hispanic Dental Association (HDA), Florida Association of Periodontists (FAP), Florida Dental Association (FDA), International Team for Implantology (ITI) and American Dental Association (ADA).

Dr. Mancuso’s practice incorporates state-of-the-art procedures, including minimally invasive gum grafting, gummy smile correction (gum lift), dental implants, bone grafting, and routine periodontal care.

Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Mancuso is deeply committed to serving underserved and marginalized communities. She also plays a vital role in mentoring aspiring dental students through the Bringing Smiles Dental Enrichment Program at New York University College of Dentistry, guiding them through the application process and preparing them for interviews.  In her personal time, Dr. Mancuso is passionate about fitness, exploring diverse cuisines, traveling, and cherishing moments with her family.
