Joining Sage Dental in June 2018, Tom has more than 20 years’ experience as a dental industry CEO. Before joining Sage, Tom was the President & CEO of DentalOne Partners. He led the company through a significant transition resulting in the development of 40 new locations, the corporate headquarters relocation, and significant upgrades to the systems architecture. Before joining DentalOne, Tom was CEO at Intelident Solutions, where he led the creation of the DDS Lab. Under Tom’s guidance, DDS Lab grew from a startup to one of the industry’s most prominent international dental labs. Before his dental experience, Tom had a successful career in the telecommunications industry. Tom received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University and his Master of Business Administration from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
Joining Sage Dental in February 2019, Dr. Roark is responsible for the overall clinical leadership, including enterprise-wide clinical strategic planning, development and improvement of clinical protocols, research into new technologies and services, oversight of quality assurance, and professional development opportunities for clinical team members. Dr. Roark received a Master of Science in health care management degree from Harvard University and earned her dental degree magna cum laude from the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine at Boston University.
Joining Sage Dental in October 2018, Misty brings a unique combination of over 25 years of business and dental hygiene experience. She is the past President of the Georgia Dental Hygienist Association and past delegate for the American Dental Hygiene Association. Misty has been recognized with various awards, and has spoken nationally. She pioneered legislative efforts to increase access to care, helping make Georgia the 47th state to work under general supervision and the 40th direct access state. Misty also serves on the Georgia Board of Dentistry where she is leading efforts to promote advancements in improving care for Georgia citizens.
Joining Sage Dental in April 2019, April has over 30 years of dental experience and has strong operational and clinical knowledge. Before Sage, she was the Vice President of Operations: East for Smile Brands before being promoted to Regional Vice President: Central for Smile Brands. April’s strengths are managing a P&L, problem-solving, improving operational efficiencies, and building a solid team with excellent company culture.
Joining Sage Dental in June 2020, Jim has six years of experience in DSO executive growth positions and 30 years of experience in high-growth multi-unit businesses. Before joining Sage, Jim served as the Chief Marketing and Development Officer for DentalOne Partners, as well as Chief Marketing Officer for SmileDoctors. Before his time in the dental industry, Jim served in multiple executive positions across public and private retail brands. Jim attended both Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Missouri, where he received his Bachelor of Journalism degree with dual majors in Advertising and Psychology.
Ben Walling, Sage Dental’s creative and innovative IT leader, joined the team with 13 years of experience helping organizations transform through innovation. His expertise includes consulting, M&A work, software development for multi-location location DSOs, and consulting with several software vendors in dental on product features and engineering. Before leading the Sage IT team, Ben led tech innovation at Coast Dental for 13 years, where he was the Software Development Manager and advanced to VP of Information Technology. Ben’s hallmark technology achievements were the invention, design, and building of Dental Benefits Advisor, a Change Healthcare product to automate insurance estimation, used by the largest DSOs in the country and is currently being integrated into all major practice management systems. His insights and ideas are now helping Sage lead the way in dental clinical care technology. In addition to his tech expertise, Ben holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of South Florida and an MBA from the University of Florida.
Joining Sage Dental in July 2018, Dan brings over 20 years of experience in Information Technology and Enterprise Infrastructure in the healthcare space. During his 19-year tenure at The LASIK Vision Institute / Vision Group Holdings, he was integral to growing LVI from two LASIK practices to over 150 through de novo and acquisition growth. Dan’s primary focus lies in building technology teams that lend themselves to supporting growth and scalability with a focus on the end-user experience and security.
